It must be the English major in me.  I love books.  Any chance I get, I will buy a book.  I do research on the Internet, but you can be sure that if there’s something I want to know about I buy a book about it.  I love the library too, but you have to give those  books back–plus they fine you.  I like to have my own books, dog-ear the pages, write in the margins, and read over and over and over.  I still have several text books, Norton Anthologies, whatever from college.  I simply love books.  Plus I hope that if I set an example by reading, Gaby will love books at least half as much as I do.  So far, that theory is working.

Here’s a list of some books I absolutely love, in no particular order:

The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the WestI did something I hate to do, saw the play/movie first.  So I constantly pictured the musical when reading this; however, I loved the book.  Somewhat dark, endearing characters, scandal, sex, love, hate this book has it all.  The musical is great, the book is better.

A Year of Food LifeIf reading this book doesn’t start you thinking about where your food comes from, I don’t know what will.  With migraines, I understand I’m supposed to avoid processed foods and everything, but this book made me want to do so much more at home.  What’s more is I realized it is possible to simplify without losing anything in the process.

This book made me even more thankful for the life I have.  Things for me are stable and comfortable (not in a bad way).  Although, I would love to take a year to travel and learn about myself.  I’d just like to take my husband and daughter along for the experience.

The Essential Guide to a Whole New Way to SewBeautiful projects, beautiful photography, beautiful writing.  This book makes me want to give hand made gifts for every occasion.

More Than 25 Simple and Stylish Sewing ProjectsI love Amy  Butler’s fabrics and patterns, so I knew I’d love the book.  Again it is beautiful with good instructions and writing.

Food to Bring Family & Friends to the TableDid I mention, I’m also addicted to cookbooks.  I love this one.  The recipes are great and I love how it’s organized into seasonal themes.

Ball Blue Book of PreservingSo far, this is my canning bible.  However, I have several marked on my wish list that I’ll eventually get.
